About Jo

Jo has recently moved from Dorset where she ran a pottery and craft workshop for a number of years. She now lives in Formby Merseyside. Jo says "Most of my ceramic work is handbuilt using white earthenware clay. I do not use a wheel, I use slabs, coils and extruded shapes to make vases, platters, jugs and sculptural pieces. These are decorated by hand using vibrant colours and original designs. I also work with stoneware clay to build bigger items such as water features, and I use crank to produce work for Raku firing. All the pieces I make are unique."

Jo is very versatile and in the last few years has become intrigued with feltmaking, using mainly merino fleece to create felt items from wallhangings to wearable art - hats, bags and jacket. Her feltmaking workshops can be done almost anywhere and are ideal entertainment for birthday parties, family get-togethers and craft groups who want to learn a new skill.

In all her homes to date she has painted murals and introduced unique decoration. She can copy a child’s drawing on to a wall for a mural, or on to shop bought ceramic tiles for a unique and original memento. Bought tiles can also be decorated with your own design and fired to acquire a high quality, permanent finish suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and any other tiled areas. She also enjoys silk painting and weaving.

Workshops in any of these skill can be arranged, as can individual tuition at her studio or yours.
