The main craft will be pottery. It is essentially a handbuilding course. You will produce functional and decorative items to take home. It is suitable for all levels of skill and is designed to be interesting, informative and FUN. Everyone will achieve a measure of success. You will make about 4 pieces over 2 days during the week.
Most tuition will be in the pottery at a village called Courbiat, near Tulle. The students will be staying at La Grange Noix near Argentat in luxury gites which sleep 6/8 with 2 bathrooms and swimming pool. Food for continental breakfast and lunch will be provided, In the evening you are free to go out to eat in one of the fantastic local restaurants, or you can prepare your own meal in the fabulous kitchen.
Provisional Schedule
Day 1 - Sunday, arrive and settle in to the accomodation. at 6pm there will be a short introductory session at the accomodation.
Days 2&3 - Monday and Tuesday, will concentrate on the basic skills of handbuilding; pinching and coiling, slab building, using press moulds and decorating.
Day 4 - Wednesday, felt making - make a flat piece of felt, then an item of your choice.
Day 5 - Thursday, Finish the felt making.
Day 6 - Friday, Visit the local markets or explore the area while your pots are being biscuit fired.
Maybe take a trip to Millau to see the famous bridge, or go for a walk in the mountains.
Day 7 - Saturday - Glazing and Firing pots. The pots will be Raku fired. This is a fast and exciting method of firing which is done in the open air. with a country supper to round off the holiday
Day 8 - Sunday is the last day of your holiday and guests will be leaving early, It is possible to extend your holiday . The area is well worth an extra few days. There is lots to do for non-crafty partners.
£375 per person based on 2 sharing a room.
Price includes tuition and materials, provisions for continental breakfast each day and lunch on 5 days.
The nearest airport is Limoges -( flights from Liverpool,midday Sunday.) Brive le Gaillard has a mainline train station - TGV from Paris. We can arrange transport from the train station.
It is also very close to autoroute network. It is useful to have a car.

Want to have a go?
You provide the venue and I provide the expertise and the materials. (fleece) and equipment. The venue needs enough space for a maximum of 10 people to have about one square metre of table space each.
All the materials for the workshop are provided, including a wide range of beautiful coloured merino fleece. There will be a small charge for the fleece, based on the weight used.

Create your own ceramics. Make your own bowls and vases.
Rag rug weaving. Make a bathmat or bedside rug from recycled fabric.
Simple felt making. Make a piece of flat felt and a purse or beads.
Painting silk with delicious permanent colours. Paint a scarf or panel for a cushion.
Decorate bought tiles with your own designs which are then fired for you kitchen or bathroom.
If you are coming for the day, please bring a packed lunch. Drinks will be provided.
There will be a small charge for materials.
Please arrive at the venue a little early for coffee and introduction. The day courses will run from 10am until approximately 4.30pm,
